Therapeutic massage for back pain

  •  Therapeutic massage-Unlike a full body massage or relaxation massage,a therapeutic massage will focus on the area of pain on the  body,like the lower back,for example.Therapeutic massage targets the body’s soft tissue like muscles and tendons.
  • It’s vital that you talk to your provider before receiving massage for any medical condition.Chronic back pain or conditions like discogenic pain need to be diagnosed properly to receive the correct treatments.Plus,your pain management specialsit will often suggest the type of massage needed .Your massage therapist may use a few diferent techniques of therapeutic massage,like neuromuscular therapy for releif of acute and chronic pain ,myofascial release massage to relieve tensionin connective tissue surrounding muscles,or sports massage ,which is typically used to help athletes.Often,therapeutic massage is often used for shorter period of time.

What to expect from your massage session with Physio?

Mutual respect, courtesy, professionalism, confidentiality and dignity between you and the Physiotherapist.

Preliminary Information
Your highly experienced Physiotherapist will ask preliminary questions to determine your
overall health and your health and wellness goals.
This information will help your Physiotherapist structure the session to achieve these goals.

Before your massage, you’ll be asked to remove clothing to your level of comfort. The
Physiotherapist will leave the room while you undress.
Lie on the massage table, underneath the provided sheet or towel, which will cover your
body expect for the part being massaged.

Music might be played. If you find music distracting, tell your Physiotherapist. The same
goes for talking during your session.

Depending on your needs, your highly experienced Physiotherapist will massage either the
full body (except private areas) or only specific areas that need attention, such as especially
tight muscles.

After your massage, the Physiotherapist will allow you to slowly get up and get dressed in privacy.
